Lahore: Pakistan Railways (PR) has decided to raise rates on all of its trains, as well as taxes for parcels and luggage, as a result of the increase in petroleum product prices.
With effect from November 1, there will be a 10% increase in rates for all passenger trains and destinations, as well as parcel/luggage costs, according to the decision. Similarly, according to notifications published separately for income categories, freight rates would increase by 5% starting November 5.
“It is therefore notified for the information and direction of all concerned that passenger rates have been increased for various trains and classes with effect from November 1 until further instructions,” according to a notification published by the PR chief marketing manager’s office.
“The Director (IT) is requested to put in place a 10% increase (class-wise) in advance reservation passenger trains. “The Divisional Superintendents are requested to apply the fare table 2021, which will take effect on November 1st, at all stations and offices,” the statement continued.
