Lahore: Pakistan Railways (PR) has decided to raise rates on all of its trains, as well as taxes for parcels and luggage, as a result of the increase in petroleum product prices.

With effect from November 1, there will be a 10% increase in rates for all passenger trains and destinations, as well as parcel/luggage costs, according to the decision. Similarly, according to notifications published separately for income categories, freight rates would increase by 5% starting November 5.

“It is therefore notified for the information and direction of all concerned that passenger rates have been increased for various trains and classes with effect from November 1 until further instructions,” according to a notification published by the PR chief marketing manager’s office.

“The Director (IT) is requested to put in place a 10% increase (class-wise) in advance reservation passenger trains. “The Divisional Superintendents are requested to apply the fare table 2021, which will take effect on November 1st, at all stations and offices,” the statement continued. Similarly, the PR’s other sections have issued similar notices.
