Islamabad: According to news reports, Pakistan Post has reached an agreement with the world’s largest e-commerce platform, Amazon, and will become the latter’s official delivery partner in Pakistan.

Pakistan Post’s director-general has already put together a team to mobilize resources for this arrangement. Senior authorities from nine major cities have also been selected to assist local business people and traders in selling their products on Amazon, according to reports.

Pakistan Post wants to open warehouses and facilitation centers in major cities such as Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Sialkot, and Faisalabad to extend its footprint as an Amazon delivery partner. Furthermore, the government intends to select a shipping business to convey goods via the sea route.

Prime Minister’s Advisor on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood had previously declared on May 6 that Amazon has finally included Pakistan to its list of permitted selling countries.

The introduction of Amazon in Pakistan has created new opportunities for women, youth, and small and medium businesses. It is a significant success for Pakistan’s e-commerce sector, as Pakistani-made goods would now be available worldwide.
