Islamabad: According to media reports, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said on Tuesday (Sept 14) that abroad Pakistanis can now utilise the IRIS system to file income tax returns. On the FBR’s website, a URL for e-filing income tax returns has been developed. Non-resident Pakistanis (NRPs) can file an income tax return through the IRIS site.

The authority made this decision in light of the difficulties faced by non-resident Pakistanis in filing their tax returns. Furthermore, it was revealed that the deadline for filing income tax returns has not changed. The deadline for filing tax returns remains the same, September 30. The IRIS site went up earlier this year (July 1) to make things easier for tax filers.
