Faisalabad: Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Pakistan’s ambassador to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), stated on Monday (August 16) that Pakistan will host the first-ever OIC trade festival in 2022, according to news reports.

The bulk of the organization’s members will attend the trade festival, which will assist promote the halal business as well as seek new channels of commercial cooperation and investment between member states.

The ambassador revealed this during a meeting with a delegation from the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI). According to the ambassador, halal products, especially food, are a big business that has yet to be explored. He also indicated that a gathering of Islamic countries’ foreign ministers is scheduled for March 2022 to formulate a collective strategy to uplift the Muslim Ummah and foster unity among member states.

The envoy also asked FCCI President Engineer Hafiz Ihtasham Javed to submit concrete ideas and suggestions for these conferences so that Pakistan can lead the way in the advancement of Islamic countries. He also asked the president to identify the industries in which IT-related collaboration is required, and he said he would try to encourage Saudi Arabia to invest in new industrial facilities in Pakistan.
