Rawalpindi: According to a recent news report, on Sunday, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Aamir Aqiq Khan said that the cleanliness of all small and large drains in Rawalpindi district should be checked, and any obstructions in the regular flow of water should be fixed right away to avoid flooding in the event of severe rains.

He said this while presiding over a District Emergency Response Committee meeting in the deputy commissioner’s office. Officials from Wasa, Rawalpindi Cantonment Board, Chaklala Cantonment Board, Civil Defence Department, Rescue 1122, and other relevant departments attended the meeting.

According to the deputy commissioner, all administrative officers should physically examine small and large drains in their regions for cleanliness and remove encroachments as soon as possible.

He added that all departments should evaluate their plans for dealing with urban flooding caused by heavy rains and ensure that all required equipment is in working order, as well as check flood plans and keep all employees aware.

According to the deputy commissioner, any encroachments on the banks of the drains should be removed promptly, and those who throw construction trash in the drains should face severe consequences.
