Peshawar: According to a news report published on Tuesday, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) has developed 14 industrial zones in the province in order to increase commercial activity by creating employment possibilities and speeding up production (October 5).

According to Javed Khattak, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KPEZDMC, these industrial zones were established after the COVID pandemic severely hampered economic operations. He went on to say that industrial zones provide services such as water, telecommunications and information technology infrastructure, sewerage, uninterruptible power supply, job possibilities, consolidated commercial areas, and efficient road networks.

New industrial zones have been established at Hattar, Risalpur, Rashakai, Mohmand, Jalozai, Chitral, Ghazi, Dera Ismail Khan (D.I Khan), and Nowshera, according to information supplied. Work on four new industrial zones is also underway, according to the report.

The industrial zones are attracting investment, according to CEO Javed, because of the facilities offered by the KP government. Mohmand Economic Zone is estimated to generate PKR 7.6 billion in investment and 56,000 employment, according to reports. The CEO went on to say that all of the economic zones have perfect security and that no compromises have been made on the quality.

Moreover, Rashakai Economic Zone is 95% completed and is expected to create 200,000 jobs for youth. It was revealed that not only local investors, but foreign investment companies are also interested in investing in Rashakai Special Zone.
