The district administration, on the other hand, has yet to recoup money from landowners for land acquired on the ancient Ring Road route from Radio Pakistan to Murat and Sangjani. The land acquisition for the Ring Road project in Rawalpindi district had been worth Rs. 380 million, but it was cancelled after suspicions of corruption.

The issue arose when Prime Minister Imran Khan became aware of charges that the Punjab bureaucracy and certain PTI politicians had planned an additional road to benefit some private housing societies, resulting in a Rs. 25 billion rise in the project’s actual cost.
