Lahore: According to press reports, the provincial government has decided to boost the urban development budget by PKR 10 billion to fund the growth of road infrastructure in Lahore.

For this project, the housing department will collaborate with other relevant departments. Underpasses, new U-turns, subways, and the elimination of traffic signals are among the new urban development initiatives.

In addition, the government has vowed to transform Lahore into a smart city. The government has been working to make Lahore a smart city since last year. The Punjab Municipal Department and the Punjab Information and Technology Board (PITB) collaborated on this project. The cost of this program is estimated to be PKR 0.85 billion.

As part of the scheme, a parking stand, street light sensors, garbage bin sensors, and air quality sensors will be deployed across the city. Electronic parking payment gadgets will also be put at the parking stand, according to reports. Smart city apps will be able to be monitored and managed in real-time.
