Lahore: Three new trauma centres and emergency blocks will be built in Lahore, according to Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
“A 200-bed new emergency block will be constructed in the Services Hospital, along with improvements in medical and building facilities,” the CM stated on Wednesday while chairing a meeting to evaluate progress on health programmes.
He ordered the responsible officials to submit the hospital’s emergency block and building structure designs, as well as the master plan for physicians and paramedics’ houses, within seven days. Three additional apartment buildings for physicians and other staff members are also being proposed.
Another 300-bed trauma centre and an emergency block would be erected on 56-kanal ground in front of Jinnah Hospital, according to Buzdar. He also announced that a 1,000-bed hospital will be erected on 123 kanal on Ferozepur Road, with a special block of 200 beds for thalassemia patients.
Buzdar stated that the Punjab Agriculture Food and Drug Authority would be operational as soon as possible, and that funds would be provided on a priority basis for the early completion of Nishtar-II Hospital in Multan and Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan, as well as the new OPD block at the Parvez Elahi Institute of Cardiology in Multan.
The chief minister also instructed that the Fatima Jinnah Institute of Dental Sciences in Jubilee Town be completed on time, and praised the universal health care scheme as a groundbreaking initiative.
