Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar stated that the government has planned to partition Lahore into 32 administrator zones in order to better solve the city’s ongoing management challenges. The decision was made during his final budget speech to the provincial legislature for the fiscal year (FY 2021-22).
The decision, according to the CM, was made in light of the province capital’s growing population as well as the need to streamline processes and administration. In this regard, a definitive decision will be made soon.
In addition, the Chief Minister announced a number of development projects for the province, including a package for South Punjab. The following are some of the speech’s details:
• In Multan, a South Punjab Secretariat will open soon, as will one in Bahawalpur.
• Under the Peri-urban Housing Scheme, the government has authorized the construction of houses in 147 tehsils across the province, with 10,000 dwellings currently under construction and expected to be finished by the end of the year.
• Approval of a PKR 360 billion district development project to be implemented in the upcoming fiscal year • Construction of 500 sports grounds under Punjab’s first sports policy.
