Lahore: According to the latest news, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar presided over a special meeting on Sunday at the CM’s office to assess the Labour Department’s performance.
During his address to the meeting, the Chief Minister stated that a Labour Tower will be built in Lahore under the supervision of the Labour Department. Usman Buzdar also asked that the plan for the establishment of hostels for labourers and industrial workers be reviewed. The meeting’s main decision was to transform the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution and the Punjab Workers Welfare Funds into smart organizations.
The meeting also resolved that COMSATS would build a campus on the Labor Department’s land in Defence Lahore, where 30% of labor and worker children would receive free education. The Qabza Mafia has been evicted from land belonging to the Labour Department, worth 2 billion rupees, according to Usman Buzdar. Similarly, the Qabza Mafia was forced to vacate 144 flats of labour and workers in Sheikhupura, Kot Chatha, and other regions. He went on to say that the minimum salary for workers in Punjab has been set at Rs. 20,000, and that the existing administration has increased the minimum salary for labourers and workers by Rs. 5000 during its two-and-a-half-year tenure.
He said that in the Social Security Hospitals in Lahore and Muzaffargarh, a regular man might receive free medical care. He commanded that the construction of 720 flats for employees and laborers be completed as soon as possible.
He also instructed the relevant authorities to take strong measures to prevent child labor. According to him, Social Security Hospitals are being built in Taunsa, Sargodha, and Faisalabad, while a cardiology section has been established in Multan’s Khawaja Farid Social Security Hospital for laborers. For the Social Security Card, 98 percent of payments are done online.
The marriage grant has been enhanced from one lakh to two lakh, according to him. Similarly, the amount available under the heading of the death grant has been raised from five lakh to six lakh. The registration of factories is available for free via the internet. The plan to establish a PESSI Medical College and Nursing School was also discussed at the meeting.
Secretary of Labor provided a detailed overview of the department’s performance and the steps taken to provide workers with amenities. On the occasion, Provincial Minister of Labour Ansar Majeed Nizai, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Secretary Labour, head of the Special Monitoring Unit, and other officials were present.
