Lahore: According to press reports, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has begun work on developing Khayaban-e-Firdousi Road as a signal-free corridor to alleviate traffic congestion in the city.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has ordered that Khayaban-e-Firdousi Road be declared a signal-free corridor from Raiwind Road to Shouq Chowk. The Allah-Hoo Chowk, which is 22 years old, is also being remodelled and divided into two lanes. The carriageway carpeting project is currently underway.
According to the news source, the formerly congested Jagawar Chowk and Shadiwal Chowk are set to be removed. As an alternative, 5 new broad U-turns from Shaukat Khanam Flyerover to Shouq Chowk will be built.

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has also revealed that carpeting work on two of the two-way U-turns has already been finished, with the remaining three being carpeted. The overall cost of the project is PKR 96.036 million, and it will cover a 4-kilometer stretch of road between Allah-hoo Chowk and Shaukat Khanum Hospital.
