Karachi: According to news reports, Prime Minister Imran Khan formally broke ground on the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project on Monday (September 27).
The premier, speaking at the inauguration ceremony, urged the provincial government to reconsider the Bundle Island Project. PM Khan arrived in the seaside metropolis for a one-day visit to launch and assess ongoing development and infrastructure projects. The KCR structure will be completed with approximately PKR 20 billion and 31 stations throughout the city, according to the planned proposal.
The National Economic Council’s Executive Committee (ECNEC) recently approved the construction of 22 flyovers and underpasses to alleviate traffic congestion at level crossings. Under the Public-Private Partnership (3P) finance model, the project is being built in conjunction with foreign investors. The project’s entire cost will be split between the centre and the province, and it will be finished in three parts.
