Islamabad: According to press reports, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has begun bi-weekly flights from Karachi to Zhob, with the first flight departing from the coastal city earlier this week.

Air Marshal Arshad Malik, PIA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), stated that the new route from Karachi to Zhob (and back) was established to meet the demands of the public and business community.

Every Tuesday and Friday, these direct flights will take place. Prior to the flight’s departure from Jinnah International Airport, PIA District Manager Faisal Kharal and Airport Manager Olympian Ahmad Alam staged an inauguration ceremony, which was also attended by passengers.

These direct flights support Prime Minister Imran Khan’s speech in Quetta, in which he emphasized the present government’s objective of delivering economic prosperity to Balochistan through a series of infrastructure and human development projects. He also stated that Pakistan may learn from China, which has succeeded in overcoming poverty through socio-economic improvements.
