LAHORE: In line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Ehsaas program’s “Koee Bhooka Na Soy” initiative, the Punjab government launched a “Mobile Lungar” scheme in two major cities of the province — Lahore and Faisalabad — on Sunday.
The scheme was launched by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, who dispatched ‘food trucks’ along four separate routes in Lahore: the first runs from Thokar Niaz Beg to Data Darbar, catering to Multan Chungi, Mandi Stop, Chowk Yateem Khana, and Chauburji.
The second section includes the Circular Road, Railway Station, Do Moria Pul, Badami Bagh Auto Parts Market, Masti Gate, General Bus Stand, Sabzi Mandi, and Niazi Chowk; the third section includes Ghari Shahoo, Co-op Store, Shalamar, Darogay Wala, and Shadipura; and the fourth section contains areas such as Lakshmi Chowk, Mayo Hospital Chowk, Shah Aalam Market, Dalgar.

On these roads, 10,000 lunch boxes will be distributed daily, according to the chief minister. Besides, two trucks can deliver 10,000 lunch boxes every day in various parts of Faisalabad. Buzdar stated that feeding others was a Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and a Punjabi practice and that his government had started the program in response to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s “Koee Bhooka Na Soy” project.
He claimed that Lahore and Faisalabad’s trucks would provide lunch boxes to the poor with the utmost respect, especially for laborers and passengers. During Ramadan, hygienic and high-quality “iftar” will be given to the poor along these roads.
The chief minister announced that the “Meals on Wheels” service would be expanded to other Punjab cities. He added that mobile kitchen units would be established in the second phase, where food would be prepared and distributed.
He congratulated the Sailani Welfare Trust and the departments involved on the scheme’s successful launch, saying that the establishment of Pannah Gahs (shelters) and almonries was the first concrete move toward establishing the “State of Madina.”
The participants also watched live the inaugural ceremonies of the “Koee Bhooka Na Soy” program in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Faisalabad and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s speech.
