Chitral: The latest news story states that at a cost of $200 million, Sinohydro of China will build a river-run hydropower plant in Chitral, KP province, to generate about 82MWs and 380 GWh of renewable energy per year.
Uzghor Hydropower Pvt. Ltd, a joint venture between China’s Sinohydro and Pakistan’s Sachal Group, will build the Turtonas-Uzghor hydropower project.
According to reports, the project site is about five kilometers downstream from the current 108MW Golen Gol HPP on the Golen Gol River, which is a tributary of the Mastuj River in Chitral’s north district.
Furthermore, it is anticipated that this project will be completed in four years from the start of civil works. The project concept, as well as the feasibility report and financial plan, have already been approved by the PPIB (Private Power Infrastructure Board).
