Gwadar: According to news reports, the Gwadar Eastbay Expressway, a major road construction project in Gwadar, is set to open in October this year.

The project’s construction work is currently 92 percent complete, with the last phases slated to be finished by the end of this month. The development plan in the coastal city is part of the USD 1.1 billion China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The Pakistani government has also sanctioned USD 168 million for the completion of the six-lane Eastbay Expressway, which connects Gwadar Port with the Gwadar Free Trade Zone and the Makran Coastal Highway. The Economic Coordination Committee approved the project in 2015, and formal construction on the project began in 2017.

The road project will connect the Trade Free Zone to the network of National Highways and Motorways once it is completed. The project is expected to improve connectivity, trade, and industrialization while also expanding the distribution network.
