Islamabad: According to news reports, Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasised on Wednesday (December 15) that green urbanisation and smart cities are crucial to mitigating the effects of climate change and pollution.

According to reports, in the development of the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project (RRUDP) and the Central Business District, the premier stressed the use of environmentally friendly materials, smart trees, blue highways, and energy-efficient building materials.

According to sources, the gathering was informed that the government is establishing strategies and mitigation measures to alleviate the effects of smog and pollution. The preservation of existing green urban culture is part of these plans. The premier also ordered that these green development concepts be replicated in other cities.

Furthermore, the gathering was informed that in the first year, the private sector will invest PKR 100 billion in the flagship CBD project. Similarly, the Ravi riverside scheme’s master plan includes the development of 1,900 low-cost dwelling units. The construction of these smart projects, according to the premier, will create jobs and improve people’s socioeconomic situation.
