Islamabad: A news story states that in order to assure the film industry’s recovery and overall expansion in the country, the government will reveal a comprehensive package and a review of main levies to encourage productions.

In this regard, a formal meeting was held between Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain and officials of the Pakistani Film Producers Association (PFPA) to take measures for the industry’s resurrection.

It was disclosed that the government had been working for several months to update present film policy and that a new policy would be announced next month.

The PFPA delegation was also told that the new strategy would examine film levies and provide unique incentives for television and film producers.

Senator Faisal Javed had previously emphasized the need for new guidelines to ensure the safety of movie stars as well as their entitlement to royalties.

The government’s plan to rationalize key taxes on film production has been greeted by entertainers, authors, and industry people as a big step toward reviving the industry.
