Gilgit: According to media sources, German Ambassador Bernhard Schlagheck declared on Tuesday that the German government will assist in improving the education, power, and health sectors, as well as reducing the impact of climate change in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

The German envoy offered support to strengthen several sectors in the region during a phone discussion with Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan. The chief minister praised the German government’s efforts. He went on to say that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s mission is to support regional development and that the federal government has suggested a PKR 370 billion development plan for GB.

In addition, the minister added that the GB has provided various chances in the industries of mining, power, and tourism. Climate change is a threat to the region, according to Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid, and foreign financial institutions must help mitigate its impacts.

He also added that to establish new power plants and update the power supply infrastructure, specific German collaboration is required.
