Islamabad: Ms Fareena Mazhar, Secretary of the Board of Investment (BOI), described the upcoming visit of a German team to Pakistan as a promising indication for Pakistan’s economy. Mr. Bernhard Stephan Schlagheck, the German Ambassador to Pakistan, paid a visit to Mazhar on September 8, 2021.

During the discussion, the ambassador said that a group of German businesspeople will be visiting Pakistan next week to look into investment prospects. He went on to say that Lufthansa is also in the delegation and is eager to begin operations in Pakistan. He also mentioned that the corporate group will be visiting Karachi and Islamabad, where they would meet with private sector investors and high-ranking government officials.

While outlining the numerous prospects in Pakistan, the secretary stated that regulatory reform is a top focus for the current administration, with investor facilitation receiving special emphasis. She informed the ambassador about the ten-year tax exemption that has been implemented in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) as well as the historic one-window operation that will begin at the end of November this year.
