Gujrat: According to reports published on Friday, the Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has presented a proposal to the Punjab government for the construction of a 16-kilometer link road connecting Gujrat to the Sialkot-Lahore Motorway (M-11) (October 1).

According to the plans, a public-private partnership (PPP) project will be used to build the connecting road from the industrial city. The local business community would contribute PKR 6 billion to the development of a dual road, while the government will donate land for the project at a cost of PKR 900 million, according to GCCI President Umar Ashraf Mughal.

It was also revealed that copies of the project’s unsolicited proposals were provided to the departments of Communication and Works (C&W) and Planning and Development (P&D). According to reports, under the PPP model, the investor business may enjoy commercial rights to the project for at least 27 to 30 years, including toll collection.
