Islamabad: Shaukat Tarin, the Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue, stated on Tuesday that the current government’s main goal is the development of Gilgit-Baltistan.

During a meeting with Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khursheed here, the minister stated that all feasible efforts would be made to ensure the timely supply of money for Gilgit-advancement Baltistan’s and development through megaprojects.

According to a statement released by the finance ministry, the Chief Minister informed the finance minister of Gilgit-strategic Baltistan’s importance and emphasised the necessity for the area’s socio-economic and territorial development.

He also emphasised the efforts being made to improve tourism in order to increase money for the local community.

While tourism is a large and expanding business, he believes that developing transportation infrastructure and promoting high-yielding crops and animal products are more important in putting Gilgit-Baltistan on an all-inclusive development path.

He said that the decision to make Skardu an international airport will usher in a new age of tourism growth. On the occasion, the finance minister promised full assistance and facilitation.
