The IT Park in Karachi, according to a senior official from the Ministry of Information Technology (whose identity was not revealed), is part of the government’s plan to construct IT zones and software parks, as well as purpose-built software technology parks, in key cities around the country. These IT zones will aid in the advancement of R&D innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as the improvement of efficient and cost-effective collaboration and digitalization to fulfil the demands of the modern day.
More information was revealed, including the fact that the Karachi IT park will create 5,000 IT work possibilities for the youth. According to the official, the IT park would house 210 IT enterprises that employ 8,400 employees. Multi-story structures with eight storeys above ground and three basement floors will be part of the project. The park will have a total area of 106,449 square metres.
Furthermore, the IT Park would enable local universities and businesses to form synergies. For the growth of the IT industry, the park will also improve the supply of workspace and related infrastructural amenities for IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS). The project is projected to take two years to complete.
