Islamabad: According to media sources, Member National Assembly (MNA) Zille Huma declared on Saturday (October 9) that Melody Food Park – the city’s lone food strip – will be refurbished at a cost of PKR 10 million.

During the press conference, Zille Huma stated that the work will begin in a few weeks. The park will be a key draw for locals once it is done. She went on to remark that the project will provide residents with job opportunities. It was also mentioned that handcraft stalls will be set up in the park to create employment options for women.

Furthermore, Secretary Food Park Mumtaz Ahmed stated that the food park floor needs to be cleaned properly in order to resemble a dining hall. He went on to say that a boundary wall is required so that customers can see which stalls are on the food street. Under the direction of the Directorate of Municipal Administration, a management committee will be formed (DMA).

President of the All-Rawalpindi Restaurants Association, Chaudhry Farooq, began by saying that it is a significant development that will revitalise the area’s business activity.
