New York: Pakistan has emphasised the importance of developing an effective strategy and monitoring procedures to guarantee that the D-8 Decennial Roadmap’s choices and actions are implemented.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to D-8 aims and vision during an informal luncheon of the D-8 ministers hosted by Bangladesh, as chair of the D-8, on the margins of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, according to a release.

He also emphasised Pakistan’s involvement in attaining the organization’s aims, noting that the country hosted the 8th D-8 Summit in 2012, which adopted two major agreements, including the D-8 Charter and accompanying Protocol.

Pakistan also hosted the 15th and 16th sessions of the D-8 Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in 2012 and 2013, he noted.

The foreign minister also reaffirmed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s five-point plan, which included mobilising resources to help Pakistan recover from the economic and health issues caused by the Covid pandemic, which he suggested during the 10th D-8 Summit.
