Islamabad: The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) resolved on Tuesday to allocate 10% of plots in F-12 and G-12 to members who have paid a deposit for the Thallian project.

According to a news statement released by the FGEHA, “it was determined in the executive board meeting that those members of Thallian Housing Scheme who have made their down payment would be given 10% plots in F-12 and G-12 based on age-wise seniority.”

It’s worth noting that the FGEHA recently held a balloting to award over 4,500 plots of various sizes in F-14 and F-15, and a number of judges were among those who received plots based on their age and seniority.

However, Chief Justice Athar Minallah of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) stopped the distribution of plots to Islamabad’s judiciary in the two sectors on Friday, stating that the grant of land constituted a clear conflict of interest. The case will now be heard on September 13 by the IHC’s bigger bench.

An official of FGEHA said the authority would have to spend billions of rupees on land acquisition and development of these two sectors. Asked about the rate of plots, he said: “Rates will be issued when the allotment process is started. At present, we are acquiring land for Rs. 7.2 million per kanal, therefore, it seems the rate of plots in these sectors will be higher than others.”
