Islamabad: Muhammad Hammad Azhar, the Federal Minister of Finance, Revenue, Industries, and Development, has emphasized the importance of completing projects under the China Pakistan Economic Cooperation (CPEC) as soon as possible.

“Time is of the essence in meeting project deadlines so that the economic benefits could reach the people of both the countries and contribute towards overall economic growth and development,” Hammad said while chairing a meeting on Thursday at the Finance Division about economic and industrial cooperation under the (CPEC).

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Privatization Muhammad Mian Soomro, Chairman of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority Lt. Gen (r) Asim Saleem Bajwa, Excellency Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Nong Rong, federal secretary Finance Division, and federal secretary Privatisation Commission.

According to him, CPEC would help the country boost industrial development, upgrade energy and communication infrastructure, and strengthen regional connectivity.

Ambassador Nong Rong, who spoke at the event, stressed the value of CPEC for Chinese businesses.

On the occasion, Bajwa also pledged his full support and assistance to the Chinese ambassador to speed up progress in the connectivity and transportation sectors.
