According to the apex tax agency’s notification, the offices will be open until 9 p.m. today (September 29) and until midnight on September 30.

The decision was made in order to assist tax filers and resolve issues with the online tax filing system. The FBR has not yet extended the deadline for filing tax returns, despite repeated requests from traders and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).

In addition, FPCCI members and traders have urged the FBR not to assess late payment fees of 0.1 percent of the entire payable amount. Traders believe that such measures would be costly to enterprises in the long run.
