According to FBR spokeswoman Asad Tahir Cheema, the internet platform for filing tax returns, known as ‘IRIS,’ is up and running. He noted that the deadline for filing annual tax returns is October 15, and that there will be no further extensions accepted.
He further stated that the most recent extension, from September 30 to October 15, was granted due to a failure of the FBR’s online tax return system, IRIS, which forced the board to give filers some extra time.

However, because the IRIS is currently functioning and completely functional, taxpayers should file their taxes by tomorrow to avoid any financial penalties. Prior to the deadline extension, the board reported the highest number of tax files on September 28, with up to 150,000 being filed in a single day.
