Islamabad: On Tuesday, the National Assembly was informed that the extension of the Kachhi Canal would be finished by August of next year.

MNA Munawara Bibi Baloch raised a calling attention notice in the house, and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan responded by saying the Kachhi Canal is a crucial project for Balochistan.

Phase I, Part II, of the project, he claimed, would be fully operational by 2023. In the current fiscal year, he said, 120 million rupees had been set aside for the project.

According to Ali Muhammad Khan, phase one of the project will allow the province to irrigate 72,000 acres of land, with another 30,000 acres to be irrigated after the remaining works are completed. The project’s entire irrigated area would be 102,000 acres.

Today, two legislation were introduced in the House of Representatives. The “Islamabad Capital Territory Prevention of Beggary Bill, 2021” and “The Contractors Registration Bill, 2021” are two examples. The legislation were referred to the House’s standing committees by the chair. The House will reconvene at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow.
