Gwadar: The Gwadar Technical and Vocational Institute was built by the China Harbor Engineering Company as an important project for public well-being under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with the goal of meeting the urgent needs of the locals in Gwadar and promoting the area’s sustainable development.
Chairman of the Gwadar Port Authority, Naseer Khan Kashani, spoke at the ceremony and expressed his thanks to China for granting the project and to the Chinese engineers and employees who, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, built the institute ahead of schedule.
The energy and transportation infrastructure projects under CPEC have benefited Pakistan greatly, while the Corridor’s socioeconomic projects are also very important for the South Asian country, Kashani said, adding that the Gwadar Port Authority will make the best use of the institute with comprehensive planning to offer locals training opportunities to enable them to get better jobs and live better lives.
The Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Nong Rong, said in a video message that the completion of the institute is a significant milestone for CPEC and a long-awaited occasion for the people of Gwadar. The technical and vocational institute has facilities for teaching and training and dormitories, while the construction of the project officially started in January of 2020.
