Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: As per the latest news, Cherat Cement Company Limited said on Thursday that an Rs34 billion greenfield facility with a capacity of 11,000 tonnes per day in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been approved.

During a meeting on Thursday, the company’s Board of Directors approved the construction of a cement facility in Dera Ismail Khan, KP, the cement maker informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).

As per the announcement sent to the stock exchange, “The plant will have an installed clinker production capacity of 11,000 tonnes per day, and the overall project cost is estimated to be around Rs34 billion, with project completion expected in three years.”

The announcement comes as the cement sector in the country has seen remarkable development in recent months as a result of increased commercial activity. Total cement dispatches in May 2021 were 3.947 million tonnes, up 49.86 percent from 2.634 million tonnes in the same month the previous year.

According to data provided by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association, domestic cement dispatches increased by 40.95 percent to 3.201 million tonnes in May 2021, up from 2.271 million tonnes in May 2020.
