Mansehra: Following the issue of a no objection certificate by the Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority, the district administration has banned all types of development operations on the land of the New Balakot City housing project in Bakrial region. In 2007, the government purchased around 15,600 kanals of land for the project.

Land in the Mongan, Dodial Malkal, Dodial Argoshal, and Bakrial areas, as well as a piece of forest land, has been acquired, mutated, and transferred in the name of the provincial government for the housing project meant to settle the survivors of the 2005 earthquake from Balakot, according to an order issued by deputy commissioner Dr Qasim Ali Khan.

The decision stated, “We [administration] had handed over this delineated land twice to the acquiring authority, first in 2007 and subsequently in 2018, yet the Erra claims that illegal buildings and encroachment are there.” It went on to say that anyone who broke the ban would be prosecuted under Section 188 of the PPC.
