Village elders told reporters that work on the bridges that connect their villages to the main Chakdara-Timergara road had been halted for unknown reasons.
According to them, work on the Kano Shamshi Khan Bridge, which will cost Rs53.9 million, and the Nasafa Bridge, which will cost Rs64.4 million, has begun. Both projects were tendered on November 15, 2017, according to them.
Contractors had taken their machinery from the sites, according to the elders, causing anger among the locals. They demanded that the government release cash for the projects as soon as possible so that they may be completed as soon as possible.
