Islamabad: According to press reports, Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar indicated on Tuesday that Chinese investors are eager to invest USD 1 billion in the South Balochistan Package.

The South Balochistan project, which was announced in November 2020 as part of the Balochistan development package, is 35 times larger than Gwadar’s previous North free zone.

Furthermore, the minister stated that the government has included 53 development projects in the current fiscal year’s development agenda, totaling about PKR 600 billion (2021-22).

In addition, projects totaling PKR 1200 billion will be implemented in Balochistan under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). The minister also stated that the federal and provincial governments are working together to ensure that development projects in the province are completed smoothly.

He further claimed that internet facilities are being provided to the youth of Balochistan to better assist them.
