Rawalpindi: According to news reports, the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved six projects costing PKR 61.24 billion on Tuesday (November 24), including three massive road infrastructure projects: the Leh Expressway, 10th Avenue (from IJP Road to Srinagar Highway), and Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR).

According to the specifications, the CDWP can approve projects with a budget of less than PKR 10 billion, but projects with higher budgets must be forwarded to ECNEC for final approval. During the meeting, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) was presented with three significant transport and communications projects (listed above) valued PKR 60.64 billion for approval.

The PC-1 for the RRR main carriageway development work from Banth (N-5) to Thalian (M-2) was approved by the CDWP at a cost of PKR 23.606 billion.

The CDWP also approved PC-1, a land acquisition project for the Leh Expressway and a flood channel in Rawalpindi. The building of the project will necessitate a total of 750 kanals of land. The CDWP also approved a feasibility study and construction of 10th Avenue (from IJP Road to the Srinagar Highway) for PKR 12.08 billion.
