Islamabad: Ali Nawaz Awan, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM), has stated that any encroachments on and around the nullas of E-11 will be destroyed to prevent any future floods or mishaps.
Ali Nawaz Awan, speaking at a news conference here on Tuesday, said that all three committees established to investigate the E-11 tragedy, in which a mother and her kid died as a result of urban flooding, have submitted their reports.
According to the recommendations of the investigation committee, the then Member Planning and employees working with him were charged with lowering the width of nullah, which resulted in a flash flood in a street of a private housing society in sector E-11.
He claimed that the nullah of E-11 had been encroached upon, and that it had been reduced from 70 feet to 18 feet with the consent of the planning wing in 2012. Any compensation to the affected persons that comes in the way of nullah would be the responsibility of the housing society’s administration.
He told newsmen that Rescue 1122 received a call from E-11 and the same responded within minutes but some negligence was found on part of Rescue 15 and Islamabad Police.
