Islamabad: Officials from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) are attentively monitoring all drains and nullahs to avoid a flood crisis similar to that which occurred in Islamabad. All emergency response centres in the city have been activated, according to a CDA spokesperson.

He told this agency that the civic agency had tasked its engineering wing with overseeing the drainage of water caused by rainstorms. Similarly, he stated that the authority’s numerous formations, including the roads directorate (north), the roads directorate (south), the markets and road maintenance directorate, and others, were busily draining water accumulated owing to heavy rain on Monday.

Because additional rain is forecast in the coming days, every personnel was on high alert, and a flood cell was established with the support of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad and the federal capital administration to quickly respond to any emergency situation, he added. To avoid any unforeseen situations, federal capital police were stationed across the city.
He claimed CDA management had eradicated wild plants and trimmed grass, particularly along the road drainage system, which was obstructing adequate rainwater drainage.
