According to news reports, Chief Minister Jamal Kamal Khan Alyani has directed the small industry department to develop a plan to help revive the province’s handcrafted carpet industry.

He made the announcement, according to reports, while chairing a meeting where the development schemes of the Industries and Home Departments, as well as their Concept Papers for PSDP 2021-22, were discussed. The meeting was given a full briefing on all of the planned development schemes for the coming fiscal year. During the meeting, the design paper for the proposed project to improve the infrastructure of Quetta Industrial and Trading Estate was approved.

A plan for the reconstruction of carpet centres in Sibi, Ziarat, and Chaman has also been made to revive and develop the carpet industry in Balochistan. Other proposals addressed included creating PC-1 for carpet centre modernization, the construction of CTD complexes in six districts, and the establishment of new police stations.

Since Quetta’s population is rapidly increasing, the Chief Minister also directed that land be selected to establish more industries outside of the city.

Provincial Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove, as well as the additional chief secretary for planning and development, the additional chief secretary for home, the principal secretary to the chief minister, the finance secretary, the media secretary, the additional secretary for industries, and MD LIDA, were all present at the meeting.
