Sukkur: On Friday, an anti-encroachment drive was initiated in several parts of the city. Officials and workers from the Sukkur Municipal Corporation, led by Municipal Administrator Ali Raza Ansari, bulldozed a large number of concrete structures, including houses, shops, hotels, and warehouses, built on storm-water drains and nullahs in the areas of Shahi Bazaar, Frere Road, Thala Chowk, Qadri Masjid, Jinnah Chowk, Camp Road, and Mall Godown Road with the help of heavy machinery.

According to municipal officials, several encroachers attempted to resist, but police intervened and pushed them away. In Jacobabad, a similar campaign was begun, although only tiny constructions were removed from storm-water drains and nullahs.

Private structures on government-owned lands near DC Chowk were not touched in the operation, according to residents and activists from various political parties, nationalist groups, and social welfare organisations.
