Peshawar: According to news reported, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has agreed to establish a District Land-Use Planning and Management Committee for all districts to facilitate, coordinate, and supervise the conduct of surveys for master and strategic planning, as well as land use and zoning.

The committees will be chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC), Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance & Planning), Chairman or Mayor of the Concerned Tehsil Council, heads of district level offices of agriculture, environment, provincial housing authority, public health engineering, irrigation, sports, culture tourism, transport, and communication & works departments, Assistant Commissioner of the concerned tehsil, Tehsil Municipal Office, and Assistant Commissioner of the concerned tehsil.

Furthermore, the committee will collaborate with the local government to develop and implement the district land-use plan or master plan, as well as submit suggestions to the province Land-Use and Building Control Authority for approval in each case. In addition, the committee will examine NOCs granted by the respective agencies on a monthly basis and may take action to correct a violation, such as the reconstruction or demolition of a building.
