Mansehra: According to a media report published on August 15, earthquake survivors have rejected the government’s offer of payment of plots at the New Balakot City housing project and instead demanded an early plot assignment in the same project.

The survivors of the earthquake, according to Tahir Khan, the president of the organization representing the affected, demanded plots rather than money, as the Supreme Court (SC) had ordered. Muhammad Maroof, a representative of the Association of Red Zone Dwellers, revealed that in January 2019, the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) instructed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and federal governments to establish New Balakot City within one and a half years and award plots to the families as soon as possible.

Furthermore, ex-Senator Abdul Qayyum Awan stated that the subject of early plot allotment will be brought up with the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority.
