Islamabad: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has authorised $5 million for the Kurram Tangi Integrated Water Resources Development Project’s “project preparedness funding.” The PRF is used to conduct risk assessments and provide paperwork for ADB and government clearance of the project.
The PRF will contain an update of the land acquisition and resettlement plan, an environmental impact assessment, a financial and economic analysis, and a gender action plan, according to an ADB document.
In June 2021, the government authorised Proforma II of the Planning Commission for the proposed PRF. To prepare the Kurram Tangi Integrated Water Resources Development project, it had requested a PRF from the ADB.
The initiative, according to the document, is a government priority and is in line with the ADB’s Strategy 2030, which focuses on poverty and inequality, climate change and disaster risk management, rural development and food security, and increasing governance and institutional capacity.
