Mingora: According to press reports, a 60-day ban on all sorts of restoration and construction works on the banks of the Swat River has been issued under Section 144. Those who break the order would be charged under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), according to reports.
Under the River Protection Act 2014, a district magistrate issued an order barring any sort of development or refurbishment within a 200-foot radius of the Swat River’s banks.
Furthermore, the district magistrate’s orders said that there had been reports of illegal building operations along the Swat River. The neighbouring area is anticipated to suffer as a result. A ban was imposed on the region to combat the negative impacts on local environment.
Previously, Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan had taken note of unlawful building in the Makhnial area’s woods. The meeting determined that appropriate categorization and delineation of Makhnial woods would be completed within three months, and that a comparable construction embargo would be enforced in the region until then.
