Punjab: As per the latest news, the Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti, recently chaired a high-profile meeting at the National Hockey Stadium to discuss the Punjab Sports Department’s Annual Development Programme.
The meeting was attended by Fuad Hashim Rabbani, Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab, Javed Chohan, Director Admin, and other officials. Secretary Sports Punjab, Fuad Hashim Rabbani, delivered a detailed presentation on the province’s sports plans.
During the meeting, a substantial sum of Rs 9 billion was requested for the completion of next financial year’s sports initiatives. Similarly, funds for 77 existing and 80 new sports initiatives have been suggested.
Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, stated at the meeting that 25 new tehsil sports complexes have been suggested for the coming fiscal year. “A proposal to build Sports Arenas in Jhang and Chiniot has also been floated. A Youth Center and Hostel will be built in Lahore in the next Annual Development Programme”
Rai Taimoor further stated that funds have been set up for the stadium’s upgrade in preparation for the SAF Games 2023. “The up-gradation of Nishtar Park Sports Complex and astro-turf of National Hockey Stadium is also part of our planning for the next financial year. The construction of a High-Performance Center at National Hockey Stadium has also been proposed,” he said.
A proposal for the development of swimming pools at the Divisional Headquarter level in Punjab has also been floated, he said. Furthermore, for the promotion of hockey, the development of a sports hostel in Gojra has been planned.
Punjab Minister for Sports Rai Taimoor stated that the Punjab Sports Department is putting all resources into growing sports culture among the youth and providing top-notch sports facilities to the province’s aspiring athletes.
