Islamabad: According to news reports, Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar announced on Monday (November 22) that 199 development projects worth PKR 601 billion are currently underway in South Balochistan.

While speaking at the ‘National Workshop on Balochistan,’ Federal Minister Umar emphasised Pakistan’s future trajectory and development projects, as well as encouraging the exchange of opinions through the lens of Balochistan. Several Balochistan lawmakers and notables attended the event.
Federal Minister Umar explained that the Southern Balochistan development package focuses on economic possibilities, digital connection, and health and education facilities. He went on to suggest that the digital Balochistan will help the region create jobs.
The federal government, according to the minister, has allocated utmost resources for the province’s rapid development and to bring it up to par with neighbouring provinces. A special development package has been launched for backward areas such as Gilgit-Baltistan, South Balochistan, and 14 priority districts, in keeping with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision.

Khalid Mansoor, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), also informed the delegates on the CPEC initiative’s projects. He went on to say that there was a lot of effort being done to improve the region. The growth of Balochistan, according to the PM’s adviser, will open the door for regional connections.
