Karachi: According to a news story, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has joined forces with a number of like-minded civil society organizations to coordinate a spring tree-planting drive that will result in the planting of 100,000 tree saplings across the city.

Sindh Information and Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah initiated the spring plantation campaign in Karachi’s Bagh-e-Jinnah (old Polo Ground).

According to Sindh Local Government Minister, such saplings will be planted as part of the most recent campaign, which will have the greatest environmental gain.

He also stated that the Sindh government was working on an urban forest project along the Malir and Lyari rivers in Karachi.

He went on to say that, in line with Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vision, a “Sarsabz Sindh” (Green Sindh) program had been launched to promote greenery in the province.
